GM Says Its Fuel Cell Generators Could Enable EV Fast-Charging

TBH probably. I've always been a bit of a doomsday prepper, but observing human behavior during the last ~3-5 years has added a whole new level of chaos to be ready for.

GM Says Its Fuel Cell Generators Could Enable EV Fast-Charging

I don't know exactly what it is, but it's like a disease in my head that I have to be constantly making systems more robust and self-sustaining. Constantly searching for points of weakness and failure. It used to be manageable, but lately I see everything through the lens of " does this work...

GM Says Its Fuel Cell Generators Could Enable EV Fast-Charging

Single source power production and grid reliance is a recipe for fragility. Hydrogen, particularly hydrogen created via renewables, is mostly "green" and adds fuel source diversity, which improves resiliance. Also, hydro works during volcanic/nuclear winter.

Is Consumer Reports on the take from Big Oil and Gas?

I mean...tbh, if Elon said "we're not even removing the mill scale, deal with it" I bet a bunch of us would still be alright with it.

Anyone work for Tesla? Career Application Question

If you believe the recruiter is related to the position or posting, yes. If you're not sure, the worst that happens is they ignore you IMO. I don't think anyone would see it as super negative.

Anyone work for Tesla? Career Application Question

I do not work at Tesla, and I am not familiar with Tesla's hiring process, but I do have significant hiring experience at the enterprise level and am very familiar with HRIS systems similar to what Tesla uses. This could be for a number of reasons: The job could have been listed, but then...

    Live Tesla Shareholder meeting

Well, the one sits in a hospital parking lot for 13 hour stretches (my wife's Bolt), and you'd think they'd have EV spots but they don't. My PacHy and future-CT sit...wherever the job is, which is usually in the bush somewhere. I could carry a pop-up array with me but that might be a big pain...

    Live Tesla Shareholder meeting

Michigan utilities are governed by something called the Michigan Public Service Commission. In theory it is a regulatory agency, but in practice the appointed commissioners are empty suits that sign on to whatever the two big utilities put in front of them.

    Live Tesla Shareholder meeting

Michigan utilities won a "maximum number of customers on net metering" quota a while back, and they've hit that quota. I'm in DTE's territory, and new solar installs are not net metered - they're governed by a pain in the butt credit system that gives you credits for off-peak even if you're...

    Live Tesla Shareholder meeting

Yeah, we're going with a double-wall with a break to reduce thermal barriers, and focusing extra cash on good windows/doors. Due to the nature of the house we have to have an air exchanger - but we haven't considered any sort of heat recovery unit. I'll have to look into those. I'm really...

    Live Tesla Shareholder meeting

I'm going through this modeling right now. We're building a new house, and are doing everything we can to make it low-consumption all-electric. Well insulated, ductless minisplits air-source heat pump, hybrid water heater, etc. R-32 walls, R-50 ceiling, in Michigan. And it doesn't matter what...

    Tesla AI Day

Smells like buying opportunity. Or (I know this is unpopular) the stock price will come back to reality and reflect actual earnings. Current price reflects insane growth opp, but this might be that growth the bet has been on. If so, I don't know if there's "more" growth past that or if this is...

Off-topic: nothing to see here - Tesla Van

As a Pacifica Hybrid owner, I'd cancel my CT res in a minute if there was a Tesla van with the same capabilities. 7/8 passenger, "stow and go" third row and very easily removable 2nd row captain seats, and 350+ miles of range (plus towing) and I'll spend my $50-70k there instead of on the CT...

Fellow Nerds: Is Elon more Paul or Leto II?

I think you've got something backwards. Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't read the Dune series.

Fellow Nerds: Is Elon more Paul or Leto II?

I think one could make a convincing argument that Elon is taking guidance from Dune's Golden Path, with spice = fossil fuels. I am far from the first to suggest this connection. It does beg the question for me, however - is Elon more Paul, or is he Leto II? Given that he is taking the first...

What is happening with Tesla stock and when will it stop? Getting a lil nervous.

@Dids hit it off the top, and to pile on -- IMO the stock is overvalued vs. fundamentals and it isn't a comfortable "buy" for me. But that's me, my risk profile, and how I invest and is not advice relevant for anyone else. Even a "buy and hold" I feel like Tesla has a lot of future value and...

EV haters in EV threads are now called "ICE Trolls"

Same. I do not get the innate hatred towards EVs. I don't get the coal rolling that happens to EVs, which being out here in Bro-dozer ag land I have actually seen a few times. I think EVs got associated with "liberal" and that's the angle of attack for some of this stuff.
