That's only true if you scrap it.
If you sell it on the used market, someone else will keep driving it until it's used up.
The same is true for used cars, too.
When I worked for a dot-com, management talked a lot about "change anger".
My intuition is that "change anger" is at the root of a lot of the EV pushback. My usual response is that nobody is making them buy an EV -- if they like the vehicle they have, they can keep it. I'll just drive my...
Given where it's positioned pricewise and in terms of offroad features, it's competing with the Mercedes G-Wagon and with the Land Rover vehicles.
The Cybertruck is likely to replace my GMC Sierra Hybrid, which is the premium/tech trim of a mass-market platform (GMT900). The GMT platform is...
I've driven the 2nd generation Honda Ridgeline, and I loved it!
The Ridgeline is the truck I was looking for when I got rid of my Ford Ranger in 2013.
If the Ridgeline were a BEV, it would definitely have been worth $40k+. But, ICE vehicles just aren't worth that kind of money to me, even...
Some readers of this forum may not know that you can make an educated guess about the AC VFDs at a glance. For instance, here's the GMT900's 2-mode hybrid inverter box:

You can see the double 3-phase...
PWM's fast switching can also create radio frequency interference.
PWM is the default motor control strategy, especially for battery powered machines -- unless you really need torque control. Hybrids and highwayworthy EVs really need torque control.
But, AC variable frequency drives (VFDs)...
DC motor speed can be controlled through pulse width modulation. It works well enough for a lot of EVs.
With a variable frequency AC motor control, though, the electrical physics allows you to control both torque and speed with some degree of precision, even with an open loop control system...
My local supercharger is at a Meijer.
There is a Sams Club nearby, and a Cosco is being built nearby as well.
I think it just depends on which landlord will agree to have Tesla as a tenant.
Buy one of these to make it easier?

It costs 2x-4x what it would cost to buy parts from EVWest does, though. ...and EVWest only sells the (relatively) good stuff.
But I can see the value of this approach, in the right circumstances.
A 2000-hour "time between overhauls" is typical for airplane engines. Some are less, some are more.
A typical general aviation airplane can fly for about 4.5 hours starting out with full tanks, which actually does work out to around 500 cycles.
An engine overhaul cost tens of thousands of...
